Longing for a simpler life.....

I have just finished reading a couple of series by Beverly Lewis (Abram's Daughters and Annie's People). They are about Amish and Mennonite families and lives. Great books! Great message!

The Amish and Mennonite take life slowly and only have the necessities for life. They are self-sufficient and rely on God to take care of their needs. Friends and family (after God) are the center of their lives. There is no hustle and bustle, no need to be better than the neighbors. They are content with what they have and their life.

It has made me want to scale back on all that I do. I don't need to have new clothes or books. I don't need to be involved in every activity there is for stay-at-home moms. And my children don't need to be rushed from one activity to the next. Why does it seem so hard these days to take the time to relax, spend time with family and friends, be content with what we have? Why do we rely solely on ourselves for our happiness and not rely on God to take care of us? Instead of getting busier and busier I want to slow down, enjoy the life that I have been given by God. If I don't get to every MOPs meeting or the kids don't play t-ball, who cares. We will have spent time as a family enjoying each other, not out trying to do more, be more. I guess simple isn't too bad.

This makes me so mad!!

This is long, but please read. It is very important (especially for those with children who already use the internet).

Recently, a very serious problem has been brought to my attention. It is a very heinous website called www.puellula.com. This website is a safe haven for pedophiles. This site has a manifesto, stating demands to the government to legalize pedophilia. I won't go in to what else is on the site(it is really disturbing) but they make it seem ok and have pages that are kid-friendly.

This website claims to be legal. There is even a link on their webpage to report them to authorities. Here is a quote from that page: "Are you outraged by what you have just been reading? Do you think that sites like this should be banned?" This site has already been reported numerous times to a number of law enforcement organizations including the FBI, the RCMP and Interpol. The site has compiled a list of contacts for a number of law enforcement bodies that you might wish to contact. They claim to be untouchable under the first amendment and so the authorities can't touch them.

There are a number of things that you can do.
1) Please repost this bulletin on myspace or your blog or whatever.
2) Report this site to cybertipline.com, and sign the petition at http://www.thepetitionsite.com/take...?ltl=1174125902. You can signthis as "anonymous" if you wish.
3) Make your local authorities aware of this website.
4) Contact your congressman and senator. If we can get other senators and congressmen in the know, it very well could initiate talk and possibly action by our government.
5) Send this bulletin, or write your own, to your local media.
6) Call your local media or even the big medias.

Madison's life lessons....

Our oldest has had to learn quite a bit about life lately. We went for a walk a week ago and passed a baby bird (just hatched) that had fallen out of his nest. Madison wanted to rescue it....we decided that was not such a good idea. She was none too pleased. Then one of our baby kitties didn't make it.
Trying to explain why we couldn't save the little guys and why the mommies didn't want them was hard. She has such a compassion for animals and people who are hurting. It is wonderful to see how much she cares....just wish it was easier for her to learn some of life's lessons.

New Kitties!

These are our new kitties. We rescued them from the shelter on base. Momma kitty had the babies about 4 days earlier. They are so tiny. She had five kittens so when we got home with them we realized that we have officially become cat people. We have 6 now.*

*Unfortunately, one of the kittens had a paw that was not fully formed and Lola (mommy) decided to reject the kitten and he died. We were pretty sad....he was really cute.*

Madison's surgery

Hey all!

Madison is having oral surgery on Fri (May 4). Please keep her in your prayers. And mommy too......I'm a little nervous.

Also, Jaden's surgery went well. He can hear a little better but not as well as the doctors would like. (I think he has improved a ton...guess I should trust the doctor though.)They don't think it will affect his speech though. He has another hearing test in a month to see if it improves more.
